About Back Water Barisal
“Paddy-Canals-Rivers these three make Barisal” it’s a proverb
about Barisal. Traveling by boat is the best way of life here. Barisal, the
southern division of Bangladesh, is awash with rivers and canals which is part
of the Ganges Delta. Hundreds of them flow through this region and met with
Bay of Bengal, the result is a deliciously lush landscape with more shades of
green than you ever imagined.
There are 10-15 canals with full of natural beauty which is completely rare
in overall Bangladesh and it is listed as prestigious with rich bio-diversity.
The Barisal Back Waters are a network of interconnected canals, rivers, a labyrinthine
system formed by a long water ways and sometimes compared to the Indian Kerala
and American Bayou. In the midst of this landscape there are a number of villages
and full of village activities.
There are 4/5 mighty rivers has surrounded in this area. Miles after miles you
can enjoy the full blossom of the nature. The shadow of the tree of two side
of the canals falling on to canal and you can also imagine that you are doing
backwater in Amazon Swamp Forest.
There you’ll see endless guava gardens on it’s full ripen season,
floating markets of rice, vegetables, and fruits, traditional life on the sides
of the rivers and canals, bazaars, saw mill, paddy field, schools and many more
interesting things. For you it is not only an adventure trip; it will be a memorable
- life time experience and photography tour. Also you will pass your leisure
at the unique Kiakata beach where from can enjoy the Sunrise and Sunset both.
Itinerary
Day-01:
Meet on arrival at Dhaka airport. Transfer to the hotel. Depend on your arrival;
if time permits we shall offer you some city sightseeing activities at this
day.
Day-02:
After breakfast at 08:00hrs accompanied guide will show you Parliament House,
Central Martyr's Memorial, Curzon Hall, Supreme Court Building, National Mosque,
Dhakeshwari Temple and Star Mosque. After lunch visit Shakhari Bazar and Ahsan
Manjil.
Famous Dhakaya Biriani will be offered for lunch at a restaurant in old Dhaka
At 5:00 pm. you will be transfer to Shadarghat terminal to board on historic
paddle steamer (more than 100 yeays old). It will leave Dhaka at 6:30 pm. We
shall arrange 1st class share A/C cabin for your overnight stay.
Day-03:
The paddle steamer will reach at 6 am in the morning. Check in to the best local
hotel; refreshment and breakfast. Then will go out to see the city. Will visit
Church, the busy local bazaars, river ports. At 11 am, will take public ferry
to Bhola the biggest island town. The ferry will go through small and big rivers
and you will enjoy the riverside beauty seating on Ferry roof. After 2.5 hours,
reach to Bhola, walk around that area, people will come, talk and want to photograph
with you. All are very friendly and hospitable. After lunch back through same
way. Evening, return to Barisal and stay overnight.
Day-04:
Early morning starts backwater and village trip. At first will go to Banaripara
and ride small country boat. The boat will start running through tiny canals.
You will see the village beauty of both sides of the canals. Will visit some
floating markets and get off some small locality to meet the people. Then visit
Pottery home, paddy field, battle leaf garden and many more village activities.
Back to the hotel in Barisal.
Day-05:
After breakfast drive to Kuakata in Barguna district. Kuakata is a natural unique
beach where from can enjoy the Sunrise and Sunset both. On arrive at Kuakata
check in to the best local hotel. Lunch with delicious seafood. Till Sun set
you are free on the beach. At evening visit RAKHAIN tribe market.
Day-06:
Enjoy the Sun rise from the beach. After breakfast visit nearby mangrove forest.
Return and enjoy the beach. After lunch drive back to Barishal. By a ferry you
will return to Dhaka at early morning. The ferry have luxurious sleeping cabins,
we shall arrange on of those for you.
Day-07:
Check in to the hotel in Dhaka. Depend on your flight schedule we shall arrange
you airport transfer. Also we can offer you some activities in Dhaka including
visit some souvenir shops if you want.
