Day-01:
Meet on arrival at Dhaka airport. Transfer to the hotel. Depend on your arrival;
if time permits we shall offer you some city sight seeing activities at this
day.
Day-02:
This day we shall arrange your Dhaka city sight seeing tour including observe
some preparation of celebrating the first day of Bengali calendar.
After breakfast at 08:00hrs accompanied guide will show you the Star Mosque,
Sadarghat River Terminal, Ahsan Manjil, Lalbag Fort, Dhakeshwari Temple in Old
Dhaka. Also we shall arrange a short river cruise by country boat on the Buriganga
near Shadarghat what is really interesting. After lunch visit Central Martyr's
Memorial, Curzon Hall, Supreme Court, National Mosque, National Museum and Parliament
House in new Dhaka.
Famous Dhakaya Biriani will be offered for lunch at a restaurant in old Dhaka;
around 18:30 hrs we shall back to your hotel.
Day-03:
We shall visit Charak Puja and Chitra Shangcranti (Year Ending Celibration)
program at this day. Also we shall visit some markets (Hilsha Fish, New Dress,
Hena and flower are must buy items for celebrating the occasion), Shahabag area,
Dhaka university and Ramna park area to feel the arrangement of yew year celebration.
At evening you can visit / join to do “ROAD ALPONA” (design with
color on road) with the students of Art Institute of Dhaka University.
Day-04 (14th April):
The celebrations are started at the break of dawn with a rendition of Rabindranath
Tagore's song "Esho he Baishakh" by Chhayanat under the banyan tree
at Ramna (the Ramna Batamul). Day long traditional cultural shows are also arranged
by other groups and performed by national artists. Not only every corner of
Dhaka City; also from the remote, people come here and gather.
Here we enjoy the morning hours: traditional breakfast will offer as day special.
An integral part of the festivities is the Mongol Shobhajatra, a traditional
colorful procession organized by the students of the Faculty of Fine Arts, University
of Dhaka (Charukala). The procession has a different theme relevant to the country's
culture and politics every year.
We join the procession from in front of Charukala. Also we enjoy other cultural
programs and fairs.
After lunch visit old Dhaka Tanti Bazar to join at “HALKHATA” (New
Ledger Book) program. (Business people commenced a “Halkhata” (new
financial records book) and locked their old ones. Vendors used to provoke their
consumers to allocate sweets and renew their business relationship with them.)
If time permits we shall try to show you some other traditional events held
to celebrate Pahela Boishakh include bull racing, boat racing, cockfights, pigeon
racing, Jatra Pala (Traditional Drama Play) etc or any one of these.
Day-05:
Depend on your flight schedule we shall arrange your airport transfer. Also
we can offer you some activities in Dhaka including visit some souvenir shops
if you want.
